*with a disgusted sigh, Quoth draws his sword. Though it looks ancient, and no one has seen him clean it, it still looks shining ang razor sharp. It is perfectly balanced.*
Quoth, mutters: why did I ever let you talk me into this?
*He pauses as if he has realised something. Suddenly, he spins on his heel and begins walking back the way the party came. He does not look back*
OOC - dont worry about this - leave me - ill be back

*GL is about to investigate what made the thud, when he notices that the rowboat has become untied and is starting to drift downstream. He pulls on Xai's arm and starts to run.*
Come on!
*He runs onto the dock and leaps across the gap of water between the dock and boat. He lands, sprawling, in the boat, which almost upsets, but soon rights itself. He sits up, grabs the oars and rows to the shore to pick up Xai.*

*Vomar nods at Sea's warning, and points to the helmet that he's wearing*
Don't worry. If that's all that these sentinels of yours do, I'm not that worried. But I'm not going to meet them head on, either.
*Vomar walks up to the wall of the fortress, and begins scaling up the wall, making sure to keep the branches of a tree between himself and the life forms. He happens to look intp a window, and sees a strange map on the wall of a store room. It reads "Future Invasion Plan For 20,032 years in the future." Vomar ignores it, wondering why on Earth anyone would care to be that prepared*
Must be another one of those dark wizards.

Charles. ( Xai ) Posted Jun 12, 2001
*The boat thumps into the dock and GL gestures Xai into the boat. Xai looks at the river with a distant gaze.*
[Xai] thanks, but i would really rather not..... i don't... like.... water....
*A large horned trolloc breaks from among the trees swinging a heavy bladed ax. Xai's blade flashes from it's sheath and cleaves the trolloc in two. The woods seem to come alive with armored trollocs and Xai sighs and jumps into the boat. As GL pushes out into the river the front runners hit the water and wade after them..... and promptly drown in their armor. The rest stop and stare with a blank look at the water.*
[Xai] glares at them... stupid creatures, i wonder whose they are?

Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Jun 12, 2001
*keeps walking. he's angry. so very angry...these presumtuous fools. going to get themselves killed. not that he cares. he's smart. not like them. even Siun. she seemed quite nice. but no. she's just as foolish as Vomar. keeps walking*

Afgncaap5 Posted Jun 12, 2001
*Vomar is listening to the guards*
Guard #1-I still don't think it's going to work. I mean, poisoning the river? Sure, the village won't have the river to drink from or catch fish with, but they've got animals to hunt, crops to grow, and wells to drink from.
Guard #2-Well, without the irregation from the river, growing crops becomes fruitless. We're on the verge of hunting most animals in these woods to extinction anyway, and the wells won't last long. If they do, they'll just be poisoned like the river. Then when they leave, we can populate the Village with the boss's Iron Golems.
*Vomar decides that he's heard enough, and returns to the group*

Garius Lupus Posted Jun 12, 2001
*GL pilots the boat across the river to the far bank and ties it up at the small dock there. He and Xai get out and enter the woods on that side. The uproar from the trollocs on the other bank can just barely be heard here, but it is enough to arouse the interest of someone or something on this side, as evidenced by the sound of running feet on the path. GL ducks into the woods beside the path and crouches out of sight. A troop of trollocs run heavily past and pile into the rowboat, nearly capsizing it. The boat is grossly overloaded and the gunnels are nearly at the water's surface. A trolloc that is indistinguishable from the others except for a bronze wrist band barks out some orders and several trollocs reluctantly get out of the boat. The remainder row to the other side. Once on the other side, they receive a report from the excited trollocs there, and then get back in the boat and begin rowing back. GL chuckles.*
Smart they aren't, but it would still be a good idea to get a move on.
*Begins moving off silently through the trees, towards the fortress.*

*sea watches nervously as vomar climbs back down the tree. whether she was worried or dreading his return, i won't say. she mutters incantations quietly to herself*

We forgive you. Gods know we've all done it a few times.
Siun: *about the pallidness* Ah. Well that's all right then. *her expression suddenly changes to distaste* I do not, however, think it's all right that these sentinets suck bodily fluids out of people's ears. It's just /not/ right.
Canaru: *nods in agreement* Yes, most uncivilised, Miss Siun.
Siun: *to sea* So how do you propose we go about killing these sentinels, before they kill us?

Charles. ( Xai ) Posted Jun 13, 2001
*Xai begins to mutter to himself as he pulls a vial of green liquid from his coat and straps it to an arrow shaft.*
[Xai] make get into a boat will you?
*The arrow strikes the side of the boat and the contents of the vial splatter accross the wood. The trolloc's screams as the liquid eats through the side of the boat bring a happy little smile to Xai's face. He shoulders his bow and runs after GL.*

ooc - has evryone forgotten that im leaving you - do you want to notice me, or am i really that unimportant to you
Now to the tales
Afgncaap5 Posted Jun 13, 2001
We would've stopped you, but you distinctly told us not to in a previous post. Besides, my character's been climbing a wall and listening to the enemy to the last several posts. Sorry.
*Vomar drops to the ground, and quickly informs the group of what he heard from the enemy. He then notices the escaping Quoth, and points his arrow at him*
Don't go any further, Quoth. I paid you in advance for this mission, and I'd much rather have that money back if you intend to be a deserter. And I don't act too kindly toward diserters.

Jedi Jade and her daemon Thras AKA Dr. Amelia T. "Bermuda" Rangel Posted Jun 13, 2001
Yes! what he said!!! ...But if you insist, I shall protest... Which is what i'd wanted to do in the first place. Heh.
Siun: *decidedly hurt that Quoth is leaving, but is too proud to do anything except glare in his generaal direction*
Canaru: *to Quoth* Do you think it is a good idea to leave the lady protected only by an android and a human?
Siun: Don't say that, Canaru. Vomar is a good bounty hunter.
Canaru: We will not know that until we see him kill.
Siun: You have a point. *to Quoth, at the expense of her pride, she is pleading* Come now, do come back... Who shall I talk to without you?

*sea continues muttering quietly, glancing back and forth between the sentinels and quoth, pausing in her incantations to reply to suin*
[sea] i don't quite know how they are killed. although i do remember them having an intense aversion towards salt...

Charles. ( Xai ) Posted Jun 14, 2001
*Xai catches up to GL and runs easily beside him.*
[Xai] so who would send trollocs after you? I don't have any enemies that powerful.... not living ones anyway.... *he flashes a wicked grin*
Now to the tales
Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Jun 14, 2001
OOC - I meant that you shouldnt worry that i was leaving IRL! d'oh!
*Quoth pauses, and turns slowly around. He looks back for a minute, and then slowly and purposefully turns away again. He disappears into the trees*
OOC - I'll return to save you from danger, if you want, dont forget about be, but let me go. and then get into a predicament

*GL turns to Xai*
Do you think they were after us, specifically? I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose it could be true. The amulet that I carry is very powerful and evil persons would go to alot of trouble to obtain it. But I hadn't thought any knew of my possessing it. Anyway, the only way it can be taken from me is over my dead body. Literally.
*Thinks as he walks.*
Perhaps we need to investigate the fortress after all.
Now to the tales
Afgncaap5 Posted Jun 14, 2001
*Vomar glares in Quoth's direction*
I should've stopped him. He'd better hope that he never shows up on any Wanted posters....
Sea, what are you muttering about? If there's any magic going on, I like to know about it.
*Pulls some salt out of his dinner pouch*
Now to the tales
Charles. ( Xai ) Posted Jun 14, 2001
*Glances back the way they came.*
[Xai] someone must have sent them.... trollocs are not known to roam the countryside, they are generally lazy... there must be a Myradaal around here somewhere otherwise i doubt they would have tried crossing open water.....
*Pauses in thought.*
[Xai] i wonder how they managed to get so far south without notice.... anyway... what ever it was you did with your amulet, i heard the resonance quite a few leagues away..... i can't have been the only one that was curious about that....
