Africa can be too hot, but dry heat's much more tolerable, and climate varies. Even wore cardigans and gloves occasionally.

OK, for info only, and not because your wording is wrong, and in fact it adds flavour, I think places where it isn't quite common UK English usage plus what I think would be a more usual wording, are these:

Now if CERN is successful, then it may help to understand what it needs to 'beam' people from one place to another, and if they joined the researches for beaming, which relies on a very similar principle to that of the LHC, I might live to see the first transporters go live.

(I feel 'up with' is needed if you mean a sharing of knowledge, if it's a physical joining of the accelerator to something that would be different - and maybe need making clearer to avoid confusion.)

The only things I could have avoided is the 'accelerate up' (which was 'speed up' first because I couldn't remember the word 'accelerate' , and when I corrected it, I missed to remove the 'up'), and the ...'to go to'.

I'm much better spotting such things in other people's articles.
