No need to rush, I'm currently up to the neck in smiley - thepost editing anyway.

Thanks for the 'world' bit. You're right, it sounds odd.

I've never been to Africa, but I imagine it to be too hot for my taste. smiley - biggrin

Have a good weekend. smiley - smiley

Well it's a Wednesday sort of Sunday ... Saturday ran into Sunday and then the loft needed clearing...

Africa can be too hot, but dry heat's much more tolerable, and climate varies. Even wore cardigans and gloves occasionally.

To be honest, the 'world' bit sounded poetic, not odd to me. But I didn't think you were going for poetic in this piece.

OK, for info only, and not because your wording is wrong, and in fact it adds flavour, I think places where it isn't quite common UK English usage plus what I think would be a more usual wording, are these:

smiley - fishFrom what I understood, they're trying to accelerate up particles to then make them collide, re-creating the Big Bang with the aim of getting to understand nature and its laws of physics better.

smiley - fishNow if CERN is successful, then it may help to understand what it needs to 'beam' people from one place to another, and if they joined the researches for beaming, which relies on a very similar principle to that of the LHC, I might live to see the first transporters go live.

(I feel 'up with' is needed if you mean a sharing of knowledge, if it's a physical joining of the accelerator to something that would be different - and maybe need making clearer to avoid confusion.)

smiley - fishJust imagine the benefits for the environment if we wouldn't have to rely on fossil powered transport any more

That's them. I should have said before that generally your English sounds very easy and natural. The only other language I have is some extremely elementary French.

Thanks a lot for taking the time, Waz. smiley - hug

The only things I could have avoided is the 'accelerate up' (which was 'speed up' first because I couldn't remember the word 'accelerate' smiley - silly, and when I corrected it, I missed to remove the 'up'), and the ...'to go to'. smiley - rolleyes

I'm much better spotting such things in other people's articles.
