Playing devil's advocate here, I could point out that Tango is known to have evolved in South America, mainly among pimps, prostitutes and other members of the area's seedier underbelly.
Many of the flicks and ornaments of the dance are representative of the battles between pimp and prostitute.
Amazing that it's seen as "classy" these days, isn't it?
