Talking Scots
Tommy Mac Started conversation May 9, 2003
I have a terrible tendency to drop in some Scottish words and sayings whenever I 'talk' and this seems to throw a lot of people .
Therefore I offer my services as an interpreter . If you come across any Scottish word or saying I will be happy to try to explain it for you.
Lang may yer lum reek.

We don't have an official 'translating' scheme Tommy, but we'll know where you are if we even need something explained to us. Do you still live in Scotland? Some of our Researchers are having a meet-up in Edinburgh tonight. A1042787 for more information, if you are interested.

I live on the very border with Glasgow .If you go to the end of my street and cross the main road then you are in Glasgow City.
If the map of Glasgow were shaped like a foot then would say my big toe represents just where I live I.E. Bishopbriggs.

Sir Mort
Just an hour apart in distance,by train or car . But light years apart in outlook, custom and thinking.
It is said here in that the best thing to come out of Edinburgh is the train to Glasgow .

Being Cornish, I am clearly no expert in these matters of almost Arctic geography, however a wicked Scots friend of mine once explained to me that "while they're only an hour apart, when it's 8.06pm in Glasgow its still 1923 in Edinburgh !"
I'll be there dreckly.
