This entry explains the five main types of teachers but needs a hell of a lot of editing by a pro!

Heh, these are funny observations - but I do have concerns. Firstly, I think this isn't terribly balanced: all teachers are, according to you, old, gay, odd, gets turned on by detention, is into child porn, or is a pushover.... My, what a choice!

Come now, teachers can't *all* be bad, can they? smiley - winkeye

"Ah, no, young sir. You might have said, oh, a great many things!"

(Evidently this researcher has never seen a female teacher, which immediately blows away 50% of the possibilities.

Next, techniques, or lack of them, in the classroom don't seem to matter. Let's be charitable and say, another 50% of that fraction.

Next, concern, or lack of it, for the student, another 50%.

Degrees of understanding of the subject matter and how to teach it, 50%

Public or private institution -- 50%

Higher, middle, or lower level -- 33%

Where are we at (1/2*1/2*1/2*1/2*1/2*1/3=1.04%) it still seems too high, but then I was trying to be generous.)

Sir,

I feel there are many more possibilities to this subject that you haven't even begun to touch on.

Nothing would give me more pleasure than to come back to this article and be compelled to say that you have touched all the bases, driven all the runners in, made me laugh till I cried, and not failed to give full praise to teachers to whom it was due.

Right now, you've earned a seat on the bench, because it *is* a good premise. If you don't want it, then give it away.

But, don't throw it out here for us to evaluate if even YOU don't think it's finished.

How would people feel about recommending that this thread be moved over to the Writing Workshop, where it clearly seems to belong?

I have a suspicion that this entry has been written by someone who is both chronologically challenged and unaware of the true purpose of the Guide.

I am not usually this critical but it has to be said that this rather short entry is pure opinion from beginning to end, and in my humble opinion the humour is not particularly sophisticated either.smiley - sadface

TLe12002, if you are truly interested in writing a useful entry on teachers, might I suggest you consider 'A History of Teaching' - it all started in ancient Greece if I remember correctly...

TLe12002,

Are you saying that you are not interested in working on improving and adding to this?

There's no point in continuing to critique this if you are not.
