I am from Israel, but now live in Liverpool. Do I miss showers! Especially the amazing invention of mixer taps, that actually.... BLEND the water together!
I hate the seperate taps for hot and cold water, and although the electric showers can be quite good, the stream and water pressure are always dubious.

But when you have a mixer tap (as we do) you still need the hot and cold water taps separate so you can adjust the temperature

But then you at least get warm water and not the hot-cold-hot-cold you get at my in-laws.

The mixer tap is part of our shower, but when we did it the 'old fashioned way' I would just gradually turn the taps on. I don't see the problem, to be honest!

I guess it's just 'coz you're not used to it. After a lifetime of perfect temperature water, it's hard to re-adjust

Alright, what are you doing tomorrow night? Come round and I'll show you how it's done chez Vibenstein

Herrm, as you could see, I was busy, and I don't know what my husband would make of this whole shower adjusting business.
Never mind my husband, as a candidate for presidency, what would this do to your reputation?

Me either! And what's with a mixing tap? We Yanks just call them faucets.
And when the plumber finally did come (and the shower works now) (but I still take baths sometimes) I asked what the advantage of having 2 separate faucets was. He just looked at me and said (seriously): 'What's the advantage of having them together?'
Geesh. No wonder we dominate the planet.

It just seems to me that that's the way things ALWAYS were, so this is how we'll keep'em. Brits love their traditions.

Oh, please PLEASE fix it! At least now I have round taps and not the metal cross ones, so I can stop worrying when I try and turn off the water in cold mornings.
