A Conversation for Rainbows
Rainbows *after* rain?
Carlton Started conversation Sep 22, 1999
No, no, not *after* rain has fallen!
When the rain stops the rainbow vanishes.
To see a rainbow there have to be raindrops in the sky in the direction in which you are looking, because the light comes straight from the raindrops to your eye; there is no way of saving it up for later!
Why not experiment with a garden hose that can be set to give a fine spray, while the sun is shining. It's a good excuse for playing with water that should convince both scientists and poets...
Happy splashing
