A Conversation for Talking Point: Can You Trust the News Media?
Hurricane katrina news coverage

I am a media student studying the representation in the news media coverage of Hurricane Katrina. I was hoping to gain some ideas and second opinions from relative strangers who saw the coverage of the event and it's aftermath.
In particular I am interrested in views on the news media's presentation of racial minorities as looters and criminals; the federal and local government's delayed reaction to the event; and the reaction of the various audiences to the news coverage.
any input is greatly welcome.
