h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Honestly, I'm not trying to turn this into another protest. But during the discussions about the necessity of these rules for the UK General Election, some people said that BBC and other websites have experienced massive attacks from people (presumably paid by political parties) to make message boards seem in favor of their party. They made it seem as though it happened every time, as though it were inevitable, and would likely happen this time.

Could someone from h2g2 staff tell us, just in general terms, not giving out any secrets that would help future attackers, if you're allowed to discuss it, did any attacks like that happen? Barage of hundreds of posts from the same viewpoint? Tens or twenties of posts?

I just thought if it was so inevitable, it probably would have happened even with these rules in place. Did the moderators or staff have to remove a lot of highly charged postings on the days leading up to the election or on polling day? (I suspect they did not.)

I can only speak for h2g2, but there were no attacks here. I genuinely don't know about the rest of the Beeb, but I would assume such information is confidential at this stage.
