"The rest of the UK media will be doing the same!?!?"

Well, that'll make tomorrow's newspapers fairly unique! I must make sure I buy the special "You know, that Blair bloke's not bad really" editions of the "Daily Telegraph" and the "Daily Mail"! smiley - bigeyes

The legistlation only applies to the broadcast media. So you can look forward to the BBC News opening with the story that a man's shed burnt down in Huddersfield, and closing with the happy news that some kittens were rescued from a tree near Swanseasmiley - smiley

I've already heard people struggling to sound sane while coping with the restrictions on BBC Radio... smiley - bigeyes

I did wonder why there was absolutly no mention of the election on Today this morning since every other morning it has been the main subject.

NB the mention of the word election in this posting is not advocacy that you vote for any particular party or even that you vote at all, or that you understand the word vote, or change your mind in anyway about how you will vote.

Is that safe smiley - winkeye

Seriously though the restrictions seem so bad today (as opposed to normally when they have been implemented in a fair and even handed way and made me far happier about the BBC's takeover than ever before) that I'll probably avoid H2G2 until tomorrow.

Last night's World Cup football seems to be getting an exceptionally protracted analysis on Radio 5... smiley - bigeyes

Good point, that. I'll insert a 'broadcast' in there.

Done. smiley - smiley

Mark, it seems that I owe you an apology. My opening post in this thread was obviously meant sarcastically. Sorry about that - pre-election tension...
But I've now heard that the "special edition" of the "Daily Mail" that I joked about actually happened, in a manner of speaking! The "Mail" is of course normally rabidly right-wing, but I hear that its editorial column didn't actually advocate a Tory vote on election day this time! smiley - bigeyes

Well that wouldn't have been because they had to.
Oh-my-gosh! You know what that means, the Daily Mail is supporting Labour! We're in trouble now.....

smiley - yikes What is the UK daily press coming to? There's only the "Telegraph" reliably carrying the torch for pompous, long-winded reactionary bigotry now... smiley - bigeyes

Yes, but the "Torygraph's" cricket coverage is good you'll have to admitsmiley - smiley

GreyDesk, here I have to admit my secret shame: I'm a Yorkshireman but I'm not really that bothered about cricket... smiley - blush

However, I will take your word for the quality of the "Torygraph"'s cricket coverage. It must be good if it's enough to get you to tolerate the rest of the paper... smiley - bigeyes
