ospf (Open shortest path first) A wonderful routing profile, that is commonly found at the network layer of the OSI theoretical table. Used to tell routers how to find the route to other routers in what we now know as the internet. Ospf is known in networking as a dynamic protocol. What this means is the router works out it’s self (once programmed) were to go. Which is the reverse of a static route, were a human has to tell the router were to go! Ospf hold much interest to a few known as network administrators due to its complex nature. Not content with simply using varied length subnet masks, (an advanced form of mathematical brilliance that results in the saving of increasingly endangered ip version 4. Think endangered species, replace species with maths equations) it also incorporates the inverted form of a subnet mask, fondly known as a wildcard mask.
Highlights to remember when quizzed on OSPF is.
1. Administrative distance of 110
2. Link State
3. Hellos
4. Areas
5. WildCard Masks
6. Complicated algorithm

techie stuff, possible the researcher in question wishes to write an entry on this and has just misplaced it?
If so perhaps someone with a spare few minuites could pop over to their space and give them a few pointers on how to get started.
I would but I'm busy (honest!).
