Hi there
First thing to do is click on "My Space" on the left hand side of the screen
<==== (Over there somewhere )
Then in the top right hand corner you'll see a phrase "Edit Page"
Click there and add a few words - even if it's just "Hello"...
Once you've done that people can visit you on your page and start talking to you...
If you're looking for things to do around here, there's loads of places to go, but a good place to start, if you want to talk is Ask H2G2, at A148907.
In the meantime, if you want to find out about anyone you see on the site, just click on their name and it'll take you to their own personal space.
Oh, and one thing, h2g2 doesn't work like a normal chatroom... As there are researchers from all over the globe, conversations tend to take a little longer, don't be surprised if you don't get a response straight away, the person you might be talking to could be in bed on the other side of the world when you post.
Have fun, don't panic, and if you need anything, either click on my name and post to my space or just press the reply button at the end of this post.

I dunno if anyone's online, but if you are could you tell me how the argument arthur uses to persuade mr prosser to lie down in front of the bulldozer please?
help!!!
Whisky Posted Nov 22, 2002
"Has Mr Dent come to his senses yet?"
"Can we for the moment," called Ford, "assume that he hasn't?"
"Well?" sighed Mr Prosser.
"And can we also assume," said Ford, "that he's going to be staying
here all day?"
"So?"
"So all your men are going to be standing around all day doing nothing?"
"Could be, could be ..."
"Well, if you're resigned to doing that anyway, you don't actually need
him to lie here all the time do you?"
"What?"
"You don't," said Ford patiently, "actually need him here."
etc... (I don't want to post too long an extract here coz of possible copyright problems)

Only 16 minutes ago, and they're already offline again. Are you sure the eyes work for non-initialized User Spaces?
help!!!
Whisky Posted Nov 22, 2002
Yup, they work, they were there when I posted...
The trouble is that I guess they post to a conversation, sit there without refreshing for 10 minutes thinking this place works like a chatroom and then go elsewhere thinking no-one's talking to them...
Hmm, wonder if an autorefresh on conversations would be possible, as is the case for 'my conversations' and 'who's online'...
Another reason for bugging the italics
help!!!

Fair enough.
Are you going to activate your space, so somebody can explain how we work?
