I'm not sure who you want to reply. Most of the newbies in this thread haven't posted since their first day here. Synchronous conversations are pretty rare on h2g2. To see who is online, press the "Who's Online button. You can visit people in their spaces and leave a message for them. If they are still around to chat, they may reply quickly. There is a lag of about 15 minutes on the database though so it's quite easy to find yourself talking to a .

Welcome to H2G2, I'm sure you'll get to like this place, we've a group of researchers known as ACEs (Assistant Community Editors) who have volunteered to help show new users around the site... normally one should be around your own space to say hello, but unfortunately, they can't do that until you've typed something there yourself... so could you press the button on the left hand side of the screen marked "My Space" and add a brief introduction, that way people can actually talk to you on your own personal space....
