hello there. there's some places at h2g2 meant to help you out, especially when you're just starting:

<./>Smiley</.> page, or how to make all the different smileys.
<./>Askh2g2</.> is a good place for any questions you have about the site.
<./>C550</.> is basically a list of help topics, and you might want to take the tour at A317459
<./>NamedEntries</.> is a little bit about making links in conversations. it also has a list of the 'named entries' ie the ones with names instead of numbers; many of these are useful.
there's also the FAQ list at <./>dontpanic-faq</.>
lastly, <./>info</.> where you can find site statistics. not really a 'help' page but neat anyway.


and if you edit your space to say something, people will be able to post to it to talk to you. if your page is mostly white(which is the default skin) you can do this by clicking the dark blueish-green button on the right-hand side in the light blue-green box thing, the button is marked 'edit page'. the equivilant button in Goo(mostly blue page, with nifty goo-looking stuff along the left-hand side) is in about the same area, under your name.
