the problem with democracy

people want lots of spending and no taxes.
look at California, the direct democracy experiment that has taken place is proof that people cannot directly control there own government. In California the government cannot cut spending to either education of corrrections (the two biggest expenditures) due to propositions. But taxes cannot be increased or the governor will be recalled.
a representative democracy is ideal because the people still dictate what is important, but they do not get to make the decisions directly.
Just because democracy is good does not mean carrying it to its greatest extreme can only be better.
