AK - fancy that! Posted Oct 25, 2003
Um... that comes out to be 34, not 42...
U518112
5*1*8*1*1+2=42
(5!*(1/8)-1)*(1+2)=42
((5+1)*8)-(1*1+2)!=42

Bracketless manual solution:
51-8-1*1^2
Computer solution:
5!/1-81+1+2

Oh your computer *does* do factorials? I thought it didn't...
Add Me !!!!!
Potholer Posted Oct 26, 2003
It does do them, but the default setting is just to try +-*/ along with digit combining.
If I don't get any nice answers there, I can turn on any of unary minus, power, factorial, sqrt and inverse trig and have another go, but the more operators allowed, the slower the search.

I still have to use BRAIN 1.1, along with the GoogleCalc Plugin ...
518112 ... let's see ...
51-8-1^12 = 42
-51+81+12 = 42
