I don't know if it counts as simpler but if you want to avoid the InvTan then you could have:
(0!+0!+0!)*2*9+0 = 6*9 = 42
Or maybe:
(0!+0!+0!)!*(-2+9+0) = 6*7 = 42

U108129 = (1+0-8)(1+2-9) = 42
