This Entry is designed to describe an easy solution to one of the most insidious evils to be faced by modern man - or woman - in a way carefully designed to reduce panic.
It should, at least, be worth a Nobel Prize.

Presumably the Nobel peace prize? (due to reducing worldwide tensions by allowing people to get a better night's sleep)
Something I mentioned in the endless loops thread about dripping taps that might be relevant:
About the dripping tap - some of the insanity of it is when the dripping *isnt* entirely regular. With the right flow of water, the periods between drips is chaotic. Its possible to sleep with a clock ticking in the background, because the brain works out the pattern and decides that since it isn't changing from the pattern, its not something to worry about. With a chaotically (what?!? theres no entry on chaos !?!) dripping tap, the brain keeps trying to find the pattern, and fails, keeping you awake all night.

Well, no problem. you just increase the drip rate, and then it becomes regular, and thus ignorable.

Thanks for the comments folks.
I agree that the most insidious aspect of the dripping tap torture is that it is usually possible to almost but not quite anticipate when the next drop will fall. Somehow it almost always manages to fool you by half a beat.

Congratulations, John! This entry was so good it has stormed straight through Peer Review and been accepted for the edited guide! A little more delay will be in order for the subbing process, but it's on its way! Well done!
