A Conversation for Christmas Island
Christmas Island, fact or fiction?

Well, very interesting piece, I must say. The tale of the two miners in particular pulled at my heartstrings for hours after reading. *ahem*
I never really thought about Christmas Island this way until now, but I'm really wondering now how long it'll be before we see some new addition to all the shows like Seachange and Something in the Air. It's got that closed community/everyone's a character feel to it by the sounds of it. Then again, I suppose everyone's like that when you stick them on an island together somewhere. Kinda reminds me of Charlie Chalk....... I loved that show. Especially where they found that recipe book but all they had on the island was bananas. ... maybe you could make it into a kids program! "Christmas Island", with all the people made out of play-dough like Morph. Then again, it also sounds a lot like one of those kids shows where 14 year olds star and act like they're important, and capable of being detectives and game programmers, and worthy of the respect of adults. "Bitchy notewriter", you could be the "main character in the shadows", who narrates but every week tells some quirky new story she happened across, about the people of the island.
Maybe even an Oz spin-off. Some poor girl from Broome is swept up in a tropical cyclone and wakes up in a mysterious new land where little Buddhists and Malays run around singing because they're all off their faces, and there's a wicked witch called Queen .... hmm
The possibilities here are endless...
