I have a royalty-free clipart image of "Weird Al" I would love to include in the article. I have seen a few other articles with nice custom images. Why can't I upload and include this one?

h2g2 doesn't currently support images in Entries, except in rare cases where the site's employees take the time to create and/or place one on the company servers. It is possible an image might be used in the finished version. But this would take a request from the entry's Sub-Editor on your behalf, plus some help from a site employee.
All this is a moot point until an h2g2 Scout pops by to tell you they've recommended your entry. After that, the entry will be assigned to a Sub-Editor. That's the point when you should take up the issue again. I hope that helps!
New version of WAY article posted!
MSL Posted Apr 16, 2001
A new version of my 'Weird Al' Yankovic article has been posted.
Key changes include:
* A footnote noting an exception to Al's original-artist permission rule (Coolio)
* A mention that he has cameo appearances in other movies.
* The inclusion of the number 27.
* A note that he was valedictorian of his high school, and studied architecture in college. (I was NOT able to confirm that he has a degree in architecture. His site, and his bibliography only mention that he studied architecture. Can anyone find a source to confirm that he has or does not have a degree? (not that it matters))
* The inclusion of the name of his new wife.
Thanks to all those who gave valuable feedback!
I did not add lyrics samples, yet. I am having trouble deciding which, of his many great wordings, is the most worthy of this article.
Unfortunately there is a lot more to be said about Al. Since I do not want this article to grow too large, it was necessary to cut some ideas out. I could go on forever about his Dr. Demento days, his parents (as an influence), his Disney specials, wacky music videos, rare items, fan conventions, wacky photo shoots, his manager, and his ancient fan club, etc. First time listeners of Al just do not need to read all these details. I have a link to Al's web site. That should be sufficient for further research.
This is not supposed to be a Weird Al trivia collection, just a lowly guide article. Feel free to leave trivial facts in comments under the article, if you feel something else must be said.
Add lyrics samples?

Congratulations! You'll be pleased to hear that your entry on Weird Al has been approved for inclusion into the edited guide! Editing takes a little while (so be patient), but it will one day appear on the front page (you'll get an email when that happens) and be included in the Edited Guide. Way to go!
Yours,
Jake
PS I seem to recall that his first hit "My Bologna" (parody of "My Cherona") was recorded in a college dorm bathroom.
Congratulations!

Editorial Note: This thread has been moved out of the Peer Review forum because this entry has now been recommended for the Edited Guide.
If they have not been along already, the Scout who recommended your entry will post here soon, to let you know what happens next. Meanwhile you can find out what will happen to your entry here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/SubEditors-Process
Congratulations!

It's a great and very informative entry -- just a suggestion / request: can you include the name of Allan Sherman? He was responsible for a large number of parodies of popular and folk songs (as well as "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" to the tune of "Dance of the hours") in the sixties, and is a Yankovic influence -- an Allan Sherman LP is visible on the cover of the original "Weird Al" LP. Obviously the tradition goes back a long way, but he was the first comedy writer / performer to make a living primarily out of musical parodies, and as such is of historical interest here.
And if you've never heard of Allan Sherman, listen to some. You'll probably want to be writing another entry.
