Sorry, Peet. I wrote down your name when you added it to the member roster forum, but I wasn't sure if the same people who wanted to be members would want to "sign" their names to that page full of ranting. So I made this other forum to make sure I had people's permission to add their names.

"Essex Grunger Boy" was also a participant or founder of the short-lived "War against the ACEs," a bloodier and shorter rebellion that preceded the Zaphodistas. Just after h2g2 came back online under the new rules, someone wrote a guide entry about making "war" against the ACEs (confusing ACEs with moderators). Apparently the page made physical threats against the ACEs. Italics deleted the page, and thus the war ended quickly.
It must have been something pretty bad, because they've left alone the Zaphodista pages that talk about "guerrilla warfare" and all that.

As I recall, Essex Grunger Boy had a short period where every fourth or fifth word in his postings would have been asterisked out... I guess that page fell during that period. He got several e-mails from the italics about it, as far as I can remember, and has now cleaned up his act somewhat; the thread where I read that is still under moderation. Ironic, or wot?

Can we get them to make the site run properly like it used to, I seem to be getting an awful lot of msgs saying that the server is down, and it just posted my msg twice in the wrong forum, it was ment to be a reply to GreyDesk.

Mel, you *did* reply to GreyDesk - click on the "in reply to this posting" link on your first message if you don't believe that!
Last time the interface was "improved" there were a lot of arguments over whether it should provide a link to the most recent posting in a given thread, or whether the most recent posting should always be tacked on to the end regardless of who you were replying to. For some reason, they did both...

Does this army have any generals? Someone nominated John Peel as an honorary Zaphodista General, for being able to get away with more swear words in the content of his BBC programs apparently than we are able.

As far as I know, if you e-mail him and make an interesting enough case, he'll call you at the BBC's expense! They generally call back before putting you on-air, partly so they have some degree of proof that you are who you say you are. If you haven't heard the show, there's a streamed copy of the previous show permanently available through their site. It's moderately amusing...
