A Conversation for Knitting

Knitting

Post 1

Dog Mother

I've been knitting since I was four. The Egyptian socks, however, are not knitted, they are made by single needle looping, which does not unravel in the same way as knit fabric. It was originally thought they were "crossed-knit" or Coptic knit. The earliest known example of actual knitting was found in Syria and dates to approx. AD 256, this sample is now in the Yale University collection.

I love knitting! I take some just about everywhere I go. I spin, also, on a wheel and using drop spindles which are more portable.
