Will there be a procedure for appealing in cases where the link isn't really broken, but rather the server was down temporarily for maintenance or somesuch at the time the moderator was checking the link...?

The best thing to do would be to re-post the Posting, possibly with an explanation like this:

Looks like the URL I gave in Posting 67 was broken at the time of moderation, but it's working fine for me now, so here it is again:

In this way we don't have to get involved in the time-consuming task of updating your post, and we won't consider it a breach of the rules to re-post a URL that failed for being broken, but which you know to be OK at times.
How's this sound? It's not perfect, but without letting people edit their own Postings, it's probably the easiest solution (and the idea is that it doesn't give us loads of work to do, so the trial can be a success).

Sounds fair. I had more in mind the kind of situation where a URL which has been around for a long time gets erroniously flagged as failed, though. This might put the correction many pages away from the point the URL was supposed to be illustrating...

Yeah, that is a problem... but we're not sure there's a solution beyond us offering an editing service for past Postings, and if we go down that route we'll end up spending quite a bit of time fixing things, which means we'll end up spending reasonable resources on moderation of URLs in Postings, which means the trial may not be judged a success...
And we wouldn't want that.
