A Conversation for h2g2 FAQ: Moderation

*floating in*
Today, one of my old entries was hidden, and I think I know why - I know which part I changed - although the same change was made in another one of my entries, and that one hasn't been hidden?
Anyway, my question is:
Is there any way to get in touch with one of the artists behind the h2g2 pictures in order to ask permission regarding using only a part of a picture?

She's a she, and yes, afaik she does all of them. And aren't they lovely?

If you manage to get permission, will you let AGB know? As she used to have a candle on her page and was disapointed when she lost it. Now she uses a cake. I'm sure she'd appreciate it as well.
And yes, I did go and see which picture you were after.

Oh, I've already told GB - before the entry was hidden...
But I'm starting to think that maybe the picture wasn't the reason, because I have the same part of picture in an other entry, which hasn't been hidden... and then I got this moderation mail mentioning copyright, so I'm starting to think it's the poem again - but I have already had that poem cleared several months ago!

I think it's the poem Titania. I'll hunt out the mail and check the poem - see who wrote it and when. Back in a mo.

Peta! Hey! Peta! *waving arms* I finally, after much searching, found the conversation where Abi helped me the first time my entry was hidden because of the poem - I thought that might save time searching for author...:) http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F647?thread=101986&post=851486#p851486 Funny I should find it in your message centre of all places...

Hey!

Will this entry be hidden by a moderator every time I change something in it because of the poem? If so, is there any way of avoiding that (besides trying to keep myself from changing it)

Peta Posted Aug 10, 2001
Good question. I've just put it back up, but I'm going to go over and yikes it (don't worry I'm not going crazy !). I can then attach a note to it to say that it should be passed in future, and pass it. It'll only disappear for about a minute, hang on!

You mean *crazier* don't you? I mean, you can't go crazy if you already are! Sorry, just the kind of humour we have at my w*rk, every time I say 'I go crazy!' there's a chorus of voices shouting '-ier!'

Sorry, but I saw you on 'Who's Online'... errr...
Just wanted to say that if someone wants to send me a moderation mail for this entry:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A610228
...uh... there's no need to... I've copied and pasted a lot of text into that one, in my native language - and I've been trying to translate it into English bit by bit... update/hidden/update/hidden... I'm sure the Moderator on duty finds me a real pain in the...
...but then I got fed up before translating all of it, I'll just leave that until later...
...but could I *please* not be spammed with moderation mails?
I *know* that part of the text is still in Swedish, and I don't really *mind* it being hidden until I've translated it...

Oh PTB...
I was wondering if someone could have a gentle word with Blicky about his handle... I find it truly distasteful but don't know him well enough to speak directly:
U221317 blickybadger.....now with my radical muslim sidekick Abu Hampster
thanks
