A51941153 - Validation

Hi there yellowpapillon
This looks like a promising piece of work
What do you hope to gain from having it here in the Edited Guide Writing-Workshop before you move it on into PeerReview?
Some comments on the entry, just to keep you busy:
I don't think the title gives away what the entry will be about - perhaps "Validation - A Communication Technique".
"The term validation is used to refer to a specific technique of communicating with old, disoriented people"
(a) used by whom? Doctors, nurses, carers, social scientists? It might help to mention.
(b) when you say disoriented, do you mean as in 'disoriented in time, place and person', or do you mean some non-medical use? Either way, a quick definition in brackets would clear things up.
In terms of the theory underlying this technique - how much of it is theory, and how much is proven fact? (I'm not implying that the theory is wrong, just that it's nice to show the reader which bits of thinking are specific to this technique, and which bits can be considered as given facts.) It would be nice if you could pick out any bits that aren't established fact and add something like 'validation theory states that', 'it is thought that', 'it would seem' and so forth, just to indicate that these are specific aspects of the theory.
Hopes this helps,
