You might mention that without 'And Your Bird can sing' by The Beatles, these guys wouldn't have a career. That's not to knock them, however - The Chemical Brothers wouldn't have had a career without 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. And I'm sure that there's plenty of other examples.
Oh, and if you like the Fannies, you should listen to The Diggers. They were on Creation (as were TF, I think) and released an album called 'Mount Everest'.

Like oasis wouldn't have a career without borrowing from every single beatles track ever... I've heard of the diggers, hang on, I'll just check my hubbies cd collection...

No Diggers here I'm afraid, although the name does ring a bell...

The Diggers are (or were) from Fife, and were cruelly ignored. They ended up supporting such no-hopers as Hurricane #1. The album is well worth looking out for, although it may be a bit hard to find. Think the Beatles crossed with the Beach Boys, except happier...
I could never see the Oasis/Beatles comparison myself. For a start, Oasis sound a lot more 70s to me. Oasis were never really into developing their sound, or experimenting. Still, I liked them at the time - going as far as Loch Lomond and Whitley Bay to see them.

Ah, well, just have a look at some lyrics for starters, or the total Imagine rip off (not beatles technically but still)
I saw them live once too. Thought they were alright for a week night at King Tuts...
