Don't worry. If the Editors would do something horrible to you for just posing an unsuitable link I'd been kicked off the site ages ago . Usually the Mods just delete the link and leave thje posing otherwise untouched. Are you sure that there was nothing else in there which they might not have liked?

All I put in the posting was the author of a book, the ISBN of a book, and an Amazon link. That's it. I was trying to help someone find a particular book I was telling her about. Am I allowed to put ISBNs??

Maybe it's just the Mods showing their power for the last couple hours they have here at h2g2 until we move to peer moderation.

Well hopefully they'll just take off the link. Am I allowed to get to my posting to change it myself, or do I wait on the moderators?

You can't edit postings yourself -- only the moderators and the Italics have that special power. You can definitely post again in that thread with all the information except the link. ISBNs are definitely OK.

Certain Amazon links are okay, although as the BBc doesn't carry advertising, it shouldn't be *purely* commercial. It's possible that a mistake was made.

These lovely chaps have given you some good advice, but if you are worried in future (or it's something that other Researchers can't answer), then you can reply to the email that you receive and we'll help you, or even reinstate the Posting if it was a mistake.

Thanks. I haven't received the email yet; I was too impatient. So I figured I'd post on here. I think it's a good policy to not put up purely commercial links, but I didn't even think about that at the time I posted, since I wasn't trying to benefit myself. But it does make sense and I think it's a good rule. I'll try to remember in the future.
