h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

If anyone should ever drop by the Writing Workshop, please take a look at my entry on Volleyball. There are a couple of others already in the guide, but they do the sport no justice.

I have a wealth of experience and knowledge to rely on, so I'm more interested to know what sort of things people would like to know about. The entry is hardly begun yet, but I've set up some sub-headers indicating what I intend to include. Anyone for anymore?

Two areas I may need help to write about are how the game has spread around the world, particularly Asia, and the current state of the game around the world, especially outside Europe & USA.

I think you could clarify the 3 touches rule: unless you're playing on the AVP tour you're allowed 4 touches if the first is a block.

You haven't missed any of the basic skills, but you might want to include the various names they go by e.g. Forearm pass/Dig, Volley/Overhand pass, etc.

In the 'Who Plays Volleyball?' Section you could add prisoners. It's very popular with both staff and inmates by virtue of being a true team game which is almost completely non-contact and the court size is tiny for the number of players compared to most sports. In the UK even category A prisons have teams in local volleyball leagues, although they have to play all their fixtures at home .

It's definitely something I could come back to.

Life has freed up a bit, so I will have much more time for doing some writing on H2G2.

I'll will regather my thoughts sometime soon.

I'll also be revisiting my Amfoot entries. Anything to contribute there?

It's been a rainy day so what better to do than revise my entry on Volleyball Somewhat irritatingly (to put it mildly) I spent about an hour going through updating the entry, adding new stuff and then preceded to hit the wrong combination of keys and wipe out all my changes Went back and added a few bits but really lost impetus.

I'll be back ...

This is very, very good. Exactly the sort of entry that should make the front page of the guide during this Olympic Year.

I'm unlikely to submit before the Olympics, and "shucks" It won't be finished before the end of them since I'll be attending - though not the beach volleyball unfortunately

Not generally, and neither am I in RL - I just seem to have a rather heavy sports theme atm
