Zarquon's Singing Fish!

I would like to be the muse of Peacedancers. Can I be? How do I post a line to the musehome on my home page?

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

I'll do the link thing over the weekend when I have more time.

Peace dancing, or Dances of Universal Peace as they are known were created by Samuel Lewis, following a vision at the tomb of a Sufi saint in India. He studies with Hazrat Inayat Khan, the founder of the Sufi Order of the West and dancing is used in the training of Sufi disciples. There is a tradition of whirling by Turkish Sufis.

Peace dances use sacred phrases which are sung and generally a circle form of dancing (although there are other forms, such as two lines facing each other for Jewish dances). The words are sometimes in English, sometimes in other languages, eg Sanskrit, Hebrew, Native American, Russian, Korean and Asian languages.

The dances are meditative in character and the dancers attune themselves to the dance. The movements are simple folk movements drawn from the world's traditions and generated from the feelings of the phrases. It is not important to have a beautiful voice - anyone can do the dances, including disabled and those with a learning disability.

Many of the dances are partners dances where each dancer progresses from one partner to the next. In a partner dance, you are not dancing with a person, you are dancing with the divine.

Perhaps I should do an entry on peace dancing? What do you think?

I'll work on an entry for Peace Dancing. Why did the moderator remove the URLs?

As you see, I can't get the Musehome reference to work properly. Help!

Make sure you are using GuideML to get the link to work. You can do that while editing.... choose the GuideML box... smiley - winkeye

I'll add you to the Roster in a while... I'm kinda busy with an online war... smiley - sadface

The moderator removes all URLs that are not h2g2 related... they have to have an address inside h2g2 in order to be accepted... smiley - sadface

Zarquon's Singing Fish!

Thanks for the encouragement.

I've tried to get Guide ML to work, but so far no luck. As I'm on a course (7 days) next week, it will have to wait.

I thought I'd liet you know I've changed my name - Zarquon's Singing Fish! came to me very strongly. I know Zaphod Beeblebrox used it as an exclamation somewhere, but I can't remember where. Any ideas?
