Sounds like a rip-roaring good time! Here in SA there is more or less no such thing as High School Theatre. Perhaps in the snob schools. But something like that might actually make school seem a bit more meaningful.

Over here a school without teachers, buildings, classes or books is considered "normal", to be terribly deprived, it actually has to be without kids as well.

*shakes head*
life must be very different in south africa. i'd really like to travel the world, so i could properly appreciate what i am so priveleged to have in the United States...
okay, i'll add "travel the world" to my /List of Things I Must Do Before I Allow Myself to Die/...

man, if I could choose when I would allow myself to die, I would do EVERYTHING!!! Including personally drawing every frame of three million animated movies, writing sixty billion hit songs, walk with mo own two feet to every visible location on the planet surface, travel to all other accessible planets, discover a few thousand new laws of physics ... I think you get the idea.

lol. i hadn't thought of any of those things... i'm trying to keep it realistic. or at least reasonably so.

Talking about REALISM - I'd settle for one animated movie, ten hit songs, and to at least visit Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, Zaire, Kenya and Uganda.

oh yeah, that pretty much sums up my day in one perfect nutshell. I wouldn't trade being a tech for any large amount of money.

Oh how lucky you are! I am lucky too, and I tell ya I never complain about my life! I only complain about other people's lives!

There are people who really enjoy being miserable ... do you think such people would find the 'techie' lifestyle tempting?

perhaps... although i don't know. i don't really see techies as being miserable...
it's hard work and long hours in return for little credit, but it's not AWFUL... it's tiring and sometimes boring, but so is pretty much every job. and no matter how tiring and boring it gets, i still love what i'm doing, so it doesn't really matter.

Hmm, you're right, there's a difference between 'suffering' and 'misery'. Those who suffer by choice for the sake of their art or their life's purpose do so gladly, while those who have suffering imposed on them from the outside are miserable!

But you see, the gist of my argument was right - it's the kind of thing that appeals to a person with a particular personality type, call it melodramatic if you will!

ooh, i wish my school had tech. we have some teacher's friend come do our lights for the musical, and cast members push set pieces. grr... i really want to be a techie, i just don't know where to start from.
