...and then I thought that people could suggest books that involve Egyptology in the story... it's amazing how much you can learn from reading fiction if the author has done a lot of research in a specific area...

...and of course I've got some suggestions:
- Elizabeth Peters
most of her books are about a couple of British archeologists excavating in Egypt during the 19th century, mixed up with a bit of mystery solving, and a bit of humour, and a bit of romance...
very good descriptions of excavation techniques during that time.
- Christian Jacq
although he's taking himself some liberties in interpreting the customs and ritual rites, his books are - in my opinion - very informative and entertaining
