It's been in CWW for a few weeks.
This is one of those Entries that you can add to forever, however I think there is enough in this Entry.
All comments welcome, though there are enough howlers.

You never pick the simple ones do you ?
Like you say people will be trying to add to this forever. So I'll limit myself to the title - as it is its very clumsy (in my opinion) so how about - Colemanballs, Murrayisms, Keggies, and their ilk.
That'll leave room for a couple of Ronisms and there's bound to be some - though not his most famous one about Marcel Desailly.

"We welcome World Service listeners to the Oval, where the bowler’s Holding, the batsman’s Willey."
I've got a feeling - and forgive me if I'm wrong - but I think this was one of the clips that they played at the BBC experience that we had a meet-up at once.
Other people were there, maybe they remember it? I remember giggling to quite a few howlers, I thought this was one of them.

It is my belief that the Holding/Willey quote was actually manufactured and never happened for real at all.

I'm quite sure that this was a genuine sentence that was spoken during a commentary.
But at the time it was allegedly said, and therefore reported (I didn't hear it live coz I'm not a cricket fan) I wondered how long it had taken for the commentator to realize this 'dream combination'.
A bit like The Sun's superb footballing pun when Caledonian whatever beat Celtic...
'Supercaliarefantasticcelticaretrocious'.
I bet the reporter had thought that up years ago, and was delighted to have been able to use it in his own lifetime.

That article seems to set down a good case for it being mythical.

Mina, that link was the same one I posted in the CWW thread (Post #5) when I came to the conclusion that it was probaably never said on air at all.
One that their is a difference of opinion on is the Snooker 'pink ball behind the blue/green ball'. I'm sure it was blue ball, but in Master B's Snooker A1029278 Entry it says green one of us is wrong.

This was on It'll Be Alright On The Night last night!
It was the yellow ball behind the blue ball!
I didn't put that quote in my snooker entry, it was Number Six.

Well, now there a third's version
so we have:
pink ball behind green ball
pink ball behind blue ball
yellow ball behind blue ball
I did ask Number Six weeks ago, maybe I'll ask if he's had time to check it out yet.

How many s had you had Master B, were you sober?
I'll check again later, but I've always beleived it was 'pink ball behind blue ball' and on the web pages that mentioned that one it was pink/blue.

This is a great Entry, Emmily.. I've just read it through and tears are rolling down my face due to ter.
Slightly off-topic, but ref:
'The late start is due to the time'... on a similar theme I get annoyed by Railtrack's frequent announcement:
'We apologise for the late running of this train. This is due to the later running of the previous service'. Ii.e. No proper reason given at all.

Sorry, I wasn't in that thread.
As for the snooker, it was definitely behind the blue ball - I saw the clip on the same prog as Master B. I think they were talking about the yellow ball, but I wasn't paying much attention until I heard the end bit.

BigAl, glad you enjoyed it.
As you were drinking you won't mind if I double check your hearing Master B
I just meant that that page was what made me think twice about the accuracy of that howler Mina.

Master B was correct, though I was nearly right, it had pink in the sentence too.
This is what I'm putting in the Entry:
"He's going for the pink, and for those of you with black-and-white sets, the yellow is behing the blue."
From here:

That's that one sorted.
