Hi,
nice column.
But I have to be a bit picky. John Lennon was shot on 8th December. I know this because he was and still is a big hero of mine and it was my 17th birthday. I awoke to Beatles/Lennon songs on Radio 1, only to be brought to earth with a bump when I found out why.
When I hit 34, it was a strange year, 17 years with and 17 years without Mr. Lennon. Now it is the 20th anniversary, I'm a year older and Mark Chapman has become some sort of celebrity. 
But we do, indeed, all shine on, because if we didn't .... well, what would be the point.
So, I think we should take some time out on that day and think about a world where we all tried (just a little bit) to like each other. And see where it leads.
