I think this entry may provide me with hours of entertainment on my next visit to the supermarket. Hopefully if we can get this into the edited guide, other people will be able to add some of their favourites. Admittedly I did write this entry, so I may have a vested interest in it making it to the edited guide .....

This is a fun entry - having played both those games before now... I'm tempted to suggest extending it to games in the supermarket full stop. One of my favourites has always been "what is the difference?" - You take too apparently similar items, which are at slightly different prices, and ask some helpless assistant to tell you what the difference is between them.

I recently played this with "luxury continental biscuits" versus "continental luxury biscuits". the former were 20p less...

I have to say your game sounds absolutely superb. I have to admit though that I'm not too keen on expanding the entry outside beyond the checkout. Lets see what anyone else suggest before making decision. Maybe we need to start a new entry for all those games people play in various places e.g. car journeys, or down at the pub.

I have the entry with a couple more games to play, although neither are quite as enjoyable as the original 2 or your suggestion.

There is a thread devoted to the separator thingys which begins: "What is the name of the separators made of wood or plastic with the magic words 'Next Customer Please' on it to be placed on the conveyor belt at the supermarked cash register after you placed your purchase on it to prevent the cashier to mix it up with the next customer's purchase?" http://www.h2g2.com/F19585?thread=89518 Do read it, the early postings are almost as much fun as your artical. And I am going to HAVE to pay checkout chicken at the next available opportunity. I did it inadvertantly in Waitrose in Stevenage once, and got a severe ticking off from the woman on the till. "Is that yours?" she said. "Yes" I said. And she put one of the dividers down really firmly, to make sure that she didn't get confused in the next 90 seconds or so, and muddle it up. Bizzare.

No changes except that there's an entry just hit Peer Review http://www.h2g2.com/A505766 "Games to play while serving at supermarket checkout" which is very good and deserves a link from this one. Even if it can't have one, maybe the title of this should be changed to take account that these games are only for the customer, or possibly the two should be combined together. I'll stop blathering on ...

Congratulations!
