Students of Durham Univeristy [typo] will know of Stockton as it is the site of the only Durham college not to be situated in Durham county. Univeristy of Durham, Stockton College (UDSC) runs a variety of courses from European Studies to Anthropology, Environmental Sciences and Psychology.
Stockton Campus not College. The two campuses, Durham and Stockton do interact and things like biology have lectures in both places and have to be bussed between to two.
The comments about the local hating the students also holds true for Durham.
Doesn't Stockton have a Uni in it's own right? as well as the Durahm extention

I have a few comments to make
You mention that Stockton is suppose to have the widest high street in the UK, but do not mention how wide Stockton high street is. Also, you say that is has "allegedly" the widest high street. Allegedly usually applies to thinks that are negative (usually used to someone charged with a crime, they have "allegedly" committed it), which doesn't seem appropriate in the context. I think that 'apparently' would be a better.
You also spell 'Durham University', 'Durham Univeristy'.
I have a feeling that there is more that could be said about Stockton. For example, the origins of stockton. Also, perhaps you could give some more details about Stockton's claims to fame. In particular, some more details about the invention of matches, and the first railway might be interesting, as you have told us very little about these. Also are there any interesting landmarks in Stockton?

Typos and innacuracies duly noted and altered.
The college/campus mistake is a confusion that dates back a few years as the place changed names three times while I was studying there.
As for the other information, I'm afraid I didn't have any official sources for what I wrote, and I live far too far away these days to follow up any leads.
I'm thinking perhaps that Happy Dude's advice wasn't so golden after all...

It is good advice, as is the article - however, the whole thing about peer review is that people suggest what else could go in the entry.
If you don't have access to that information, then you can't put it in. Sometimes an article is written by more than one person for that reason.
Keep plugging away, don't give up and it will get there.

Can I just point out that "Middlesbrough" gains an extra o in this entry?
Also it could be worth mentioning Teesside park has a retail section as well, with the usual collection of DIY, electrical and clothing stores (to which my mum used to drag me when my current trousers were worn through at both knees and barely reached my ankles), plus a Toys 'R' Us.

Hi there Inkwash, I don't think Happy Dude was wrong. This entry could stand as it is, it's just a question of whether you want add to it or not. There's obviously more that could be said, Stockton's history for example, but if you really went into all that it might end up requiring more than one entry. It's your choice whether to write a brief guide to the town as it now is or to do something more comprehensive.
There's a bit about Stockton's connection with matches here http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blmatch.htm if you're interested. (I was curious, so I went looking .)

Useful stuff! And a useful research site too!
I'll see what I can work with that. maybe there'll be some more stuff I can find about the first trains as well...

i like the entry quite a bit, i would say that it needs some more strict info and elaboration on the neat things, such as matches and trains(as everyone else before me has said)
i really do like the mood of the entry though
good job

I like this Entry too! I'd suggest retitling it 'Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland, UK' - that just seems to be the standard style for Edited Guide Entries about places, and it would save you having to explain about Stockton being in 'Cleveland County'. The last paragraph could probably be better phrased too - using the first person, as in 'this researcher...' isn't usually allowed in the Edited Guide.
But generally, I'm with HappyDude on this one!

Happydude made the original suggestion to Inkwash.
As for the "this researcher..." bit, it's not exactly first person, so perhaps it's best not to try to guess what the editor will want and it should just be left for the moment.

In any case, I was always under the impression that that was an established way to avoid using the first person in articles such as these.
Could be wrong, but I think I will leave it in for now.

Hi,
I'm the scout who chose your entry for inclusion in the Edited Guide.
It has now gone into the Editorial Process. When it does get into the Edited Guide, you will receive an email to let you know, but please bear in mind it can take a while for entries to go through the sub-editing system.
Conratulations,
Awu.

That's okay. I see you put in something about the retail park "DIY, computing or carpeting enthusiast." Like it.
