The Alone Ranger

And here goes...

SWM looking for a life, and perhaps a guide. This SWM is smart, quick-witted, with a dry sense of humor, who thinks the English language is one of the best toys ever invented. I've a penchant for inventing facts at whim, hiding them among a large collection of odd real ones. My musical tastes run from Mike Oldfield and the Battlefield Band to k.d. lang and Jimmy Buffett, with stops at Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, the Moody Blues, and Loreena McKinnett. I'm fairly quiet in large groups, less so among people I know. The downside (truth in advertising!): still too much baggage left over from childhood (despite valiant efforts to lose it). And what do I want, you ask? Just someone who thinks there may be treasure under all that baggage. Care to do some digging?

I'm tempted to add editorial remarks here, but I think I'll refrain, and let the thing stand on its own.

a girl called Ben

My favourite fact-on-a-whim was that while Edison was inventing the incandesent light in the US, there was a European doing the same research at the same time (as Scientists so - like Darwin and Bell). The European's name was Thorn Ericsson Bulb; which is why light bulbs are called light bulbs...

Another fact-on-a-whim is the reason why TV is so addictive - it is physiological not phychological. There is a gland in the brain which is stimulated when the eye receives certain frequencies of light, this gland controls the need for sleep, and certain moods. Less light of those frequencies and we become SADder. We tend to seek the source of the light...

Those are my favourites, but I have others... smiley - smiley

Mike Oldfield used to live near where I live now, and my best rock-coup was seeing David Gilmour live with about 499 other people three or four summers ago...
