I'm not really here Started conversation Nov 6, 2000
I drive a taxi, and if I'm not putting up with crap and abuse and personal remarks about my body from all the other drivers (mostly men) then I'm putting up with it from the passengers.
I get so annoyed. I don't mind a bit of chatting up if I pick up a few lads from a pub or a disco and they are a bit tipsy, but when businessmen walk past saying "Can't I take your cab you're much better looking" I despair of the entire human race.
Even women do it, "Oh you are brave, I don't think I could do this job, don't you ever get any trouble?" I AM the trouble.
It's just a job ok? I am capable of driving as well as any person, male or female, and a lot better than most. I don't need asking if I want to give or receive any sexual favours, I don't want to be invited in to "party" after work with loads of drunken blokes who didn't pull in the disco and I don't need asking if I ever worry about getting attacked. Please, just give me your money and then get out.

You're right! The human race is doomed.
But don't despair. Things could be much, much worse, and I'm sure they'te bound to go that way. You could be driving a taxi in Beirut for instance!
Hope that cheered you up?!?!?!

Or Cairo. We went to Egypt for our holiday this year, and used taxis a few times in central Cairo. They drive like maniacs over there. It makes London in the rush hour look sane!
