She used to be a country style singer for god's sake. Anybody who relates that stupid little girl to Sk8ing needs there genitals cut off or ripped out!!!


It is hard to define people musical artists into categories, but she is a downright pop artist.

Alternative is the name for the non-punk, non-grunge in-betweens of the early-mid 90's. It's too broad these days.


On a different note, i see that some money grubbing movie-mogul is planning a movie based on the song that she sings (not writes), it's based loosly in the vain of Dirty Dancing & Footloose. You just now it's going to be crap. Not like the Macgyver movie that's in the works.

Just a note buddy. GREEN DAY ARE A PUNK BAND. They've been around since the early 90's. Have you only jumped on the bandwagon. I will admit there new stuff has gone "mainstreamish" but that's how they've always been. It's nearly impossible to think of a band that has released 7 (i'm pretty certain) albums and stayed true to their roots. Most bands these days release stuff that'll make them lots of money to retire with.

Oh and Good Charlotte are a joke and give the term "PUNK" which is lashed around to blatently these days, a bad name.

KAIOBE: Just for the case of relevancy, Punk began a good 10 to 12 years before Green Day were thought up by an English Record Exec. They are a poor imitation of the real punk. Have you ever heard of bands like Generation X or maybe a little known band called "The Sex Pistols" Green Day are just rock I'm afraid and have very little to do with Punk except the clothing they were told to wear and the haircuts that they were told to have! Sorry, but it's true.

The point was being made that just because someone is marketed in a specific "pigeon hole" doesn't mean that they are the bgenine article. "Lavigne" is NOT punk, The "Twain" woman is NOT country and Good Charlotte are just not good!!

Oh Yes! I am full of slang terms, but it all depends what you are after! Do you want insults& swear words or something more urbane and civilised? :In "Aussie" when agreeing that someone has a point, but they are wring on general we use this:"Yeah but Nah!"
EG:"I believe that the children are our future"
"Yeah, Yeah, but Nah!, the future is in pig stocks and wheat!"
Apparently this is the trademark of the travelling Aussie overseas, spot the Oz just by listening! Oh Yes, and we call "metalheads"-"Boguns" And they don't tend to like it! Much like "Trailer trash" etc..

The whole punk thing is 1 of those unanswerable questions. Coldplay for example claim to be punk cos they do what they want, which I kind of agree with, but Coldplay aren't my fave band. I would define punk as any music which defies convention. And I'm always right.

Pleeeease Clairey, do not used Steve Irwin as an example of the typical Australian. He is only tollerated in his homeland because he found fame in the USA. We can't stand him generally, we think he's a total "wanker". We prefer to try and pass him off as a New Zealander or a slightly wierd Brit.
