Greetings fellow Researchers. The Entry I am submitting for your consideration and your comments is about a young nun in Tibet, who has spent a good deal of her life in prison, where she has been treated very badly. Her only 'crimes' were participating in a peaceful protest, along with a small group of fellow nuns, and refusing to recant her belief that her homeland should be free. She was recently nominated by members of the European Parliament for the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. Please take a shufti.

Some Researchers are obviously leading very busy lives, dropping off submissions on the way to the vet with a very sick cat perhaps. But surely some of the authors of the dozen or so articles dropped off for peer review in the last 24 hours could spare a few minutes, while they wait for feedback, to offer a comment or two themselves. One hand does, after all, generally wash the other.

I read your article, in spite of revising for mock A-levels, it's being 3 in the morning here and my being Chinese, and I thought it was good. Very good. Not too preachy either, which it could well have been.

What is there to say JTG? The only reason I can think of for it not being part of the edited guide just as it is, is that its an unfinished story. Maybe information on any current campaign on her behalf, if there is one, would give a conclusion to the entry, though obviously not to her story.

Thanks Wazungu; that's a good idea. I'll get busy.

Unfortunately, I have so far been unable to come up with a campaign directed specifically in support of Ngawang Sangdrol. I have included a rather generic 'How to help' section and also a link to a photograph of Ngawang. Let me know what you think.

I like it. I think when I first read it I was looking for a conclusion because it had a slight feel of a news piece rather than a permanent guide entry, if you see what I mean. The bit on how to help gives it a good conclusion. But I've realised on rereading that the news article feel was also triggered by giving her age in the first line. Which is only going to be correct currently. If you think this matters you could make the point about how young she is by giving the date when the 21 year sentence was given , and her age at that time.
I am no expert on guide entries, these are very minor points, feel extremely free to ignore them ! I think this entry could go in the guide just as it is. I just wonder sometimes who is going to keep all these entries we're all writing up to date? It would make life easier if every guide entry had a little comment by the editors name saying "correct at the time of writing", and giving a date!

PS I used your AI link to join their e-mail stop torture campaign, I didn't sign the h2g2 petition as I didn't want to use my name here.

Thanks Waz. That's an excellent observation. She is a 24 year old nun now; but she won't be this time next year, of course. I'll change that. Actually, this submission made its debut as an article in the h2g2 Post.
A lot of people have expressed similar reservations about using their real names. I'm glad to hear that you support the AI campaign.

Much as I hate to impose on the generosity of Wazungu and Emily again, allow me to present a new, and hopefully improved, introduction.

Here's one. I've read the article, and I support its bid for inclusion. John, you paint a sad picture, but you paint it well.

...and so say all of us. The entry's in, dear John, it's in.
Of course, it may take a while, but eventually it will be part of the grand scheme. Keep them coming.

I just wanted to say a bit of thanks to John-the-Gardener for doing such a good job on this one -- this may be the article I've had to the least bit of sub-editing on all year -- it was so well written, all I had to do were correct 2 spelling mistakes and add some links.
Adding onto that, this was also the only interesting article I have to edit in this batch.
Many thanks for writing such a good one!
Mikey
