Do you know "Dresdner Christstollen"? A very heavy kind of bread (almost like a cake) with lots of raisins in it and in the center hiding a roll of marzipan! You may like that.

I thought it was a cake. We always eat it like that. Except in the old days, when it was still DDR, the real stuff from Dresden was so dry you had to spread butter on it to eat it at all. Now it's fine wherever it comes from. And it's the first Christmas thing to appear in the shops .. like end of August-ish

Not a marzipan fan, I'm afraid.
I remember going to a wedding with my parents about 40 years ago, and there being this dainty little plate put in front of me, with a tiny slice of wedding cake on. I picked it up & bit off the top half, tasted the marzipan and spat it back out onto the plate.
My mother was mortified.
I've never liked the taste. It's never grown on me. Just the smell of it, reminds me of that wedding reception!

I once had my first taste of Wensleydale at a wedding. About the same time (1963). It was delicious, but no Wensleydale I have eaten since has been so good.

I agree with Galaxy Babe, I like bread that's warm and straight from the oven. Doesn't really matter to me what kind it is, although I'm not too partial to white bread. Mmmmm, now I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Nice warm corn bread with butter and honey sounds good about now, or maybe a yummy peanut butter and honey sandwich on freshly made wheat bread.

I'm gonna go fix myself something to eat now ...
