Anyone know where I can download a copy of Perl that would work with Mandrake 8.1?

I'm amazed it's not already installed - Perl's used by so many things that it's part of the basic installation on most things. It should be on your Mandrake CD, but failing that you can probably find a newer version of Perl suitable for Mandrake 8.1 somewhere around the Mandrake websites. Have a look in your package management software, that's what it's for!

Sorry I can't be more specific, I use Gentoo so for me it's just a matter of typing 'emerge perl' and waiting for a bit

Are you sure there's no Perl already on your system? As Maw said it's normally put there duing install as so many things use it - I've never come across a distribution that didn't have it (install it or at least have it on the cd to install).

In case you don't already have it on your system, there's a perl RPM at

ftp://ftp.rutgers.edu/pub/mandrake/Mandrake-old/8.1/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/perl-5.601-6mdk.i586.rpm

There's also other perl-related RPM's in that directory as well. Hope this helps.

If you want to get Perl or any Perl modules directly then try CPAN at http://www.cpan.org/

Yeah, it is. I already have the driver. Just have to do it. I have found a few sites that tell me how to do it. It's just a matter of getting round to it.
