Just a quick post to let the other Linux users on h2g2 know that their numbers have swelled by 1 . Having managed to install The Ubuntu distro on my PC at home .
I can only assume that recent versions of GNU/Linux have greatly simplified the instalation process . As it all went fairly smoothly . Other than my graphics card not being supported . I remedied this by using the integrated graphics on the motherboard . Not really a problem as I do not use my PC for any gaming or other 3D applications.

I'd also like to join since I've been running Ubuntu for a couple of years now. I've only once managed to mess up my computer so thoroughly that it required a complete reinstallation of the OS, so I think I'm doing something right.
