I wouldn't want Kendal Mint cake in the mix.
The ingredients as they're listed make for an interesting combination of flavours. Adding mint cake will surely just make it all taste of mint.

I agree with you GD, which is one reason why I don't think KMC can be classified as gorp.
On the 'which is easier to eat - gorp or KMC' argument, KMC is definitely easier to both carry and eat, no question.

Actually, having visited various sites, I agree with 'y'all. Gorp is a mixture of things, so one wouldn't include something like KMC. (But perhaps energy-giving convenient foods like this could be given a mention by some ruse)

You guys have been busy while I was at work!
Just to clarify, on what radioactive said, "... so I think what needs to be decided is whether gorp is necessarily ingredients that one mixes to gether or simply food to keep you going along the hike and to sustain your energy levels between meals." It is both. It is food that you mix togeather that helps sustain energy levels on the trail. I will make that more clear in the entry soon.
As for the KMC, it is not gorp because it is not a mixture of things.
I will also research more on why it is called gorp for I have now noticed that my source said it was an urban myth and I seem to have missed that. I will fix that too.
Thanx all!

You're s'posed to let people know when ou consider an Entry to be finished.
Some grammatical errors and typos:
Gorp is the essential food for any backpacking, hiking or camping trip that you may embark on.
Gorp is the essential food for any backpacking, hiking or camping trip that ONE may embark on.
A old urban myth > An old urban myth
Other words it may have come from include gawp, gawk, gowp, gaup, or gauk which all have a meaning close to wide open mouth.
> In other words it may have come from words such as gawp, gawk, gowp, gaup, or gauk, all of which have a meaning close to 'wide open mouth'.
The idea of gorp is something that is easy to eat and provides energy inbetween meals on the trail.1
> The idea of gorp is something that is easy to eat and provides energy in between meals on the trail.1 (i.e. put a space between 'in' and 'between'. Furthermore, this sentence should come earlier in your Entry, somewhere about sentence 2).
Gorp can be made many ways, but it does contain essential items.
Peanuts2 - These are essential to any gorp. These are what provide the majority of your protien on the trail.#
> Peanuts2 - These are essential to gorp; and are the main source of protein on the trail.
(note: change 'protien' to 'protein' throughout)
M&Ms - Another essential. These taste so good after a couple kilometers of hiking. It helps get that extra sugar boost to get to your destination.
> M&Ms - Another essential. These taste really good during the hike, and help to provide that extra sugar boost as one approaches one's destination.
Raisins - These are a necesarry addition to any gorp because they taste good in the mix
> Raisins - Apart from tasting good, they are an essential component due to their sugar content. (I've used the word 'essential 'coz... well, look at the acronym)

" You're s'posed to let people know when ou consider an Entry to be finished"
What else do you think "I beleive it's done, unless anyone else has any suggestions" means Al? Sounds pretty unambiguous to me.
"hiking or camping trip that ONE may embark on"
There's nothing wrong with saying 'hiking or camping trip that you may embark on'. It's perfectly acceptable to say 'you' in edited entries. I I've used it myself without any problems and so have plenty of other authors.
"Other words it may have come from include gawp, gawk, gowp, gaup, or gauk which all have a meaning close to wide open mouth.
> In other words it may have come from words such as gawp, gawk, gowp, gaup, or gauk, all of which have a meaning close to 'wide open mouth'."
I don't think either of those are satisfactory, and some of the words presented as examples are simply alternative spellings of the same word - 'gawp' and 'gaup', 'gawk' and 'gauk'. In fact I'm not convinced of this explanation for the origin of 'gorp'. Is it just a theory baldeagle, or did you come across it in your research for this entry? I can't even find most of those words in my Shorter OED, or online with any connection to 'open mouth'.
"M&Ms - Another essential. These taste really good during the hike, and help to provide that extra sugar boost as one approaches one's destination"
See above, regarding 'you' and 'one'.

Thanks for the ideas. I didn't include all of them because I didn't want it worded that way. For instance: "Other words it may have come from include gawp, gawk, gowp, gaup, or gauk which all have a meaning close to wide open mouth.
> In other words it may have come from words such as gawp, gawk, gowp, gaup, or gauk, all of which have a meaning close to 'wide open mouth'." --- I didn't include the in, because I'm not trying to say "another way to say it" I'm trying to say these are other words that gorp can be derived from.
I agree with Oojakaplv about the you/one argument. In English class it may not be alright to use "you", but I already have an Entry that I use "you" all the time. Personally, I think it can go either way. It's a preference thing.
One last thing. I'm sorry I didn't say I was done. That last time I edited it, I became really busy soon there after and haven't gotten back to this thing until recently. I'm sorry. Next time I'll try and remember.
Oh look! It's already next time! It's done again. I've made all the changes I thought necesarry.

I throw various salted nuts in my Gorp - almonds, sunflower seeds, cashews. I have also known some people who put gummie bears in theirs, though it strikes me as too gooey.
I had heard that it was called 'Gorp' as an acronym for 'Good Old Raisins and Peanuts', but that may be totally wrong...
Good looking entry!

Ummm... I believe I adressed that in the Entry... let me check real quick.........
Oh yes! I did! Its is in the first paragraph!
Oh, and sorry about the hint of sarcasm there. I'm at my mom's house and am ready to go back to my house. I leave for my house in the morning.

Perhaps a footnote coming from M&Ms to suggest other similar sweets like Smarties or Minstrels, chocolate coated in a candy shell to prevent it from melting in the heat? Smarties are very much the definitive pre-M&M invasion British candy-covered chocolate sweet!
