Wouldn't it be good if we could upload all information to our pocket pc's (those of us who have them), for viewing at anytime on the go!?
This would not be a dificult process i'm sure!

"Simply put: no.
It would not be a good idea, as not only the Guide Entries are changing en an every day basis. And we are not all informed of any new or changed entry like the Book 'Ford' has. So you will always be outdated.
An other aspect is the Guide is not only the relative static part of the Edited Entries, most of this site involves the commuity. We are a living society with day to day happenings, suddenly rising debates and ideas. We are 24/7 evolving into something better, bigger and more complex.
What you would have on your pocket pc would be no more then the dead ruins of a city, only the skeletons of the buildings remaining in a constant decay of outdating.
Besides there is also something like the copyright. . .
The Mobile version of 'The Guide' is still in its infancy, future developments should enable to create entries and involve in conversations.
(I said 'future' and 'should', these are merely guesses)"

Mort - a middle aged Girl Interrupted Posted May 4, 2005
But the good thing about visiting h2g2 is that everyday there are at least 3 new entries into the Edited Guide every day as well as the current 'talking point' which has often been collated into an Edited Guide entry.
We had sneak previews to the graphics from the movie plus lots of other good stuff.
You would miss out on all that if you never actually visited the site

I guess what I mean is like 'Avantgo', where you update the information when ever you sync....which is usually at least once a day.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
