Now reached Monstrous Regiment, which is causing me some headaches with so many pseudonyms do we go with the character names they are know as through most of the book or their real names or both (is that too much of a spoiler?). What do you think GodBen?

GodBen (The Magical Astronomer) - 00000011 Posted Aug 21, 2005
Hmm, I say they should be called by their "male" names so as not to give too much of the story away.

Here's the final lot - apologies again for taking so long. Some of the books were much trickier than others as there are so many secondary characters and it's difficult to determine the cut off point. To be really thorough I guess each book needs its own entry - but then it would be very difficult to not give spoilers and it'd also be difficult to not start straying into APF style.
Monstrous Regiment

Are you still interested in doing character entries? Not sure the best way to approach it other than each character needs an intro and commentary on how their character has developed throughout the series and obviously a list of books they've featured in. However, this would be an extremely long entry so wondering if it would be worth splitting it and tackling logical groups of characters in a single entry, eg wizards entry, night watch entry, etc. overlaps may be a slight issue? Actually perhaps not because can just refer to other entry.
Any thoughts from anyone?

I think the problem is that as soon as you list all the books, it's going to need updating every time there's a new one
A4509830 - The Works of Terry Pratchett
scrumph Posted Aug 28, 2005
Is that really a problem? Although I certainly wish updating was slightly easier - I guess that's the advantage of a Wiki system...
It'll only need it every 6 months or so - not a huge burdon and I don't think it would really matter if it was less frequent - there is loads of out of date stuff in the EG.

GodBen (The Magical Astronomer) - 00000011 Posted Aug 28, 2005
OK, I've added those character lists. That should be it then. *Waits for scout.*
I'll probably update it once a year, but as scrumph says, there's loads of out of date entries in the EG, such as my Family Guy entry (although it's a bit too soon to update that, especially since the new season hasn't arrived over here yet).

Why does the overview come last? Seems like it should come at the beginning to me...
And you could always link to my Pterry entry...

I guess it's worth waiting for the imminent arrival of the next too books before jumping up and donw for this to get picked.
Apparently "Thud!" has already been published in America has "Where's my cow?" too? Perhaps one of our American colleagues could provide us with summaries and synopsies - no I can't wait 10 days : )
BTW GoddessRachel nee GodBen, is there any reason my contributor credit has dropped off the entry?

Thud! has been published in the States; I saw it in the bookstore two days ago. Couldn't tell you what it's about, though, as my mother made me choose between it and the Hitchhiker's DVD.

Are those all in the pipeline Cardi?
Did CMOT dibbler really not appear until Moving Pictures? I thought he showed up in the earlier Rincewind books as a very bit-part character. I'm going to have to go and check now aren't I?
