I came down on the Scientific Atheist side, but it was a close one. They actually had to ask me a tiebreaker question, presenting me with two previous questions and asking me which was MORE true. It was 83% for both Scientific and Militant.

You scored as a Angry Atheist

Whoah! Down boy! It's time to let go of the belligerence and let someone else talk for a while. Even if the religious don't make must sense, you should probably observe the unspoken rules for human interaction and not yell directly into their faces.

Angry Atheist 83%
Scientific Atheist 67%
Militant Atheist 58%
Spiritual Atheist 50%
Theist 25%
Apathetic Atheist 25%
Agnostic 25%

I didn't think I was *that* angry. Miffed, yes, but not angry. Perhaps I'm deluding myself!

Rev, I tend to swear properly and have managed to stop my self using the 'C', 'J' or 'G' words. I've tried replacing them with 'Thor's Hammer' but it's too much like hard work!

Sober or otherwise, you very obvious anger and hatred of anything affiliated with faiths comes across these threads very clearly. It's your nature, friend. If you are comfortable with it, seething within you, that is your business. Sadly, when any threads appear that go back to the same old cycle of Atheism and Science versus Christianity (generally leaving the other religions alone), I blink past your posts. Just as I do with Fanny, SoRB, Blicky, Vicky/Della, yadda yadda. Because it's all the same old stuff, over and over ...

It does get a tad tedious.

It's not the religion that brings on the seething, rather the bigotry and inability to give a straight answer that some (thankfully few 'round here) display.

Religion in itself wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for some of the people that believe in it!smiley - biggrin

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear }

I was once a firm and solid believer. And even then, there was no way that I could have found words to explain it to someone who insisted on dissecting the world a minute, a flower and a sunbeam at a time. So I'm really not surprised that most remain quiet, or that people with the gift of debate and intellect find common believing folks to be without convincing arguments.

I won't step into the 'debate', because it isn't one. There are the capital "A" atheists on one side of the fence, fingers in ears, yelling stock questions and stuff, quoting today's lead voice. And capital "B" believers on the other side, fingers in ears, screaming that this is how it is, always has been, just because my heart and mind says so.

Ain't no one going to win that kind of scream-fest.

I don't think anyone expects anyone to win! In its calmer moments it's a good way to gather and understand one's own thoughts though. The best way to rationalise your own feelings is to have to explain your opinion. Unfortunately those moments are too few in that thread.

smiley - erm Which thread? The latest 3 or 4? Or the dozens that have been on-going? As I said, the key players have said it all before. Most could simply save typing time, and post a response #14, or #23. You, Fanny, Tumsup, a couple of others are just relative newcomers to the ongoing stuff.

Ah, the Dawkins thread. I know of some of the others but it's all the same stuff. Unfortunately, rather than discussion of The God Delusion, the thread has become the same as all the others.

Hey ho.

smiley - erm Quite similar to Roy. But just a bit angrier. I can get very angry about it sometimes, that's true. But I can also have a good giggle about too, sometimes, depends on my mood and who I'm talking to. There's no category for 'Sometimes humerous/Sometimes angry atheist. I'd like to think that's me.
