Hi everybody. I am an absolute beginning researcher and these are my first steps in H2G2. So what do I have to do to join this connection here?

Wow! How did you find us so quick. I am keeping tabs on all the new members and will soon update the complete page. So you have done all you need to do. If you like, you can let me know where you live, what nationality you are etc - if it's on your home page I'll take it from there.

Thank you for your quick response. In fact, I am a German now living in Cologne studying music and German literature. I write a lot in my native language, but I am afraid my English won't be good enough to write some entries for the H2G2. Soon, you will find more information about me on my homepage, but this takes time and I am still learning how things proceed in here...

I hadn't noticed the Germania group, but as another new Researcher, it appears that this might be an appropriate group to join.
I live in Massachusetts, USA. My mother's side of the family is Germanic (Alsace-Lorraine). I studied the language for some six years (long ago) and spent a summer living with a family in Dortmund, while studying at the Rheinisch - Westfaelische Auslandsinstitut / Auslandsgesellschaft (and if I spelled that anywhere near correctly I remember more than I think!).
I am an ethnic mutt (4 Non-Blondes is a band I like, "What's Up" a key theme song of mine), so I have no tolerance for rascists or neo-nazis. As an American with entirely immigrant roots (Gap Band - "Land of Opportunity") I tend to favor globalization (The Police - "One World"). Being partly of Germanic heritage, I was most pleased when the Berlin Wall was demolished (Roger Waters - "The Wall - Live in Berlin"). Oh, and while not musically gifted, I very much appreciate music and the poetry of its lyrics (The Kinks - "Only Jukebox Music").
I'm very happy that the Internet has become accessible to so many ("We Are the World").
So do you think I'd fit in here?

Of course - Do come and join us. Kadef - there is a writing workshop where you can put a "raw" entry and others will help you with it. It has another name now, and the system is in the process of being changed. Before you gather your courage to start writing entries, there are lots you can read. I recommend checking out Gnomon as he has written dozens of entries on musical subjects and has a very good style.

Thank you for your advice, Trillian's child. I will look for these workshops as quick as possible. In fact, it has been a long time since I wrote my last english sentences - till I found this "Amazing Grace" - woops! - amazing place (have not searched the twinkling smiley yet).

Thanks, it's always good to feel welcome!
In my first few days my focus has been on checking the place out, getting the hang of GuideML, and some preliminary writing. Once I get the hang of the Groups, I'm sure I'll get involved in conversations besides this one.
