Well his new book is out (allegedly) in July 2002. This is once again supposed to be a ground breaking continuation of hise previous books.
Much of the I.T. community (and others) await it. His Pattern theories have had a large effect within the computer industry. Although I suspect reading it will make 
Much like the Butterfly affect his books have created/influenced Object Orientation design in computing and thus the language Java.
His books and the philosophy of 
have created new ways of working like Extreme Programming.
