Why isn't this entry in the Guide???

Gnomon - time to move on

It's in the guide, it's just not in the edited guide. I never got around to formatting it properly and I had it in the back of my mind to write a more extensive article.

Well, its about time you got on with it. If you don't mind me saying. We need more stuff like this, or the edited guide will end up as a gazzeteer (No disrespect to your geographical entried intended).

I may have mentioned this before, but you should have a look in your local friendly search engine for a site about 'Casamaures', a curious concrete (so, thats how he knows!) building that is used as a headquarters for a sundial society, and which has (if I remember) many links to sundial sites.

Pheroneous, I've done a bit of work and finished my sundial article. The main thing that was concerning me was the accuracy, so I've calculated a correction table and included it. Do you think this makes it look too geeky? I've also put a few Latin mottoes, which will probably cause the entire thing to be hidden by the moderators. Do you think it is a good enough article to go into Peer Review (he asked humbly)?

Honest opinion? As you perfectly well know without me telling you it is a lot better than some of the stuff that gets through, nevertheless, in the interests of maintaining your near perfect record:

First heading. I don't like 'chatty'. Try simply 'Inaccuracies'

The mention of Daylight Saving Time limits it geographically to Ireland/UK etc.

Corrections table. Not for me. I don't think anyone will read your article and rush out to make a sundial. You tell them very well what they are, and how they work. Its enough. They may like to know that a correction table is available, but do they need all that info?

Finally, I would have liked a little more info on types of sundial. I can only think of wall ones and pedestal ones, but have the feeling that there are many others.

P.S. I always like a little humour or lightness. How about the uselessness of sundials in our grey climes? No wonder they invented watches.

P.P.S. Well, you asked! Feel free to ignore!
